The SA National Curriculum Framework for children from Birth to Four

The South African National Curriculum Framework (NCF) provides essential guidance for practitioners and organizations developing integrated care and education programmes for children from birth to age four. Grounded in the vision of affirming young children as competent, active learners, the framework outlines six core Early Learning and Development Areas (ELDAs). "Well-being" serves as the foundational ELDA, supporting all other areas of growth including Identity and Belonging, Communication, Exploring Mathematics, Creativity, and Knowledge of the World. The NCF equips Early Childhood Development (ECD) programmes with developmental guidelines, examples of practical activities, and continuous assessment processes to help educators deliver socially, culturally, and educationally appropriate experiences for diverse communitie
