The TCU Drug Screen V (TCUDS 5) is a comprehensive 17-item screening instrument designed to identify and measure the severity of substance use disorders. Aligned with Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) criteria, the tool utilizes an 11-point scoring system to classify a client's drug use disorder as mild, moderate, or severe. Beyond the core diagnostic score, the assessment captures critical contextual data, including the specific substances causing the most harm, frequency of use, prior treatment history, injection practices, and the client's personal readiness for treatment.
